Description
This stamp commemorates the 2500th anniversary of the founding of the Persian Empire by Cyrus the Great, a major event in ancient history celebrated internationally as the emergence of one of the first large organized and multicultural states. The illustration combines an Achaemenid-inspired figure with sculpted elements reminiscent of Persian monumental art, notably bas-reliefs and symbols of sovereignty, in order to underline the continuity of a civilization based on authority, administrative organization and a certain idea of imperial tolerance. Through this solemn visual language, the stamp highlights the historical depth of ancient Iran and its lasting contribution to the political and cultural history of humanity. In the Tunisian context, this program reflects a desire for cultural and diplomatic openness, placing Tunisia in a dialogue between ancient civilizations, and affirming its interest in the great universal historical references as vectors of culture, prestige and rapprochement between peoples.
