The fiftieth anniversary of Rotary International,
celebrated in 1955, marks 50 years of existence since its founding by Paul Harris in Chicago on February 23, 1905. This anniversary was commemorated worldwide, in particular by the issue of postage stamps (France, Australia, Mexico) symbolizing cooperation and service.
Rotary International is an association that brings together 35,221 clubs as of September 30, 2015, present in nearly 200 countries and geographic regions. All of these Rotary clubs have more than 1,400,000 members called Rotarians, spread across more than 46,000 Rotary Clubs.
