Description
This stamp marks a major turning point in the contemporary political history of Tunisia: the “Salvation Congress” (July 1988) which transformed the Destourian Socialist Party into the Constitutional Democratic Rally (R.C.D.). The illustration shows a firm hand gripping a pole carrying the national flag, emerging from the waves, symbolizing the rescue of the State after November 7, 1987. The portrait of Zine El Abidine Ben Ali in the inset underlines the direction of this new political course.
