Description
Mongi Ben Hamida, born April 1, 1928 in Kélibia and died May 4, 2003 in the 13th arrondissement of Paris[1], is a Tunisian neurologist and neuropsychiatrist.
He is considered the father of Tunisian and Maghreb neurology thanks to his role in the dissemination of neurology in the Maghreb, his founding of the National Institute of Neurology in 1974 and his scientific performances in neuroscience, considered unprecedented in the region[2],[3]. He was Minister of Health between 1977 and 1979.
