Description
This stamp celebrates the Dorcas Gazelle (Gazella dorcas), supreme incarnation of the grace and fragility of Tunisia's Saharan ecosystems.
The Dorcas gazelle, or more simply “Ghazal”, is the smallest and most emblematic gazelle of Tunisia. Although it once covered vast areas, it is today mainly confined to the protected areas of southern Tunisia, notably in the Dghoumès National Park and the Jbil National Park.
She is a champion of adaptation. It can go its entire life without drinking a drop of water, extracting all the moisture it needs from the vegetation it consumes, such as acacia leaves or desert succulents.
