Description
This Tunisian stamp issued on April 16, 1960 on the occasion of Stamp Day features a camel driver, a strong symbol of the postal and caravan traditions of the Maghreb. By representing a messenger mounted on a camel, the show pays homage to ancient methods of transporting mail, when it was necessary to cross arid landscapes to deliver letters and messages. This iconographic choice highlights the evolution of the Tunisian postal service while promoting the cultural heritage and the historic roads that connected the communities. Through this image, Tunisia reminds us that the stamp is not only a functional tool, but also a witness to history, the trades of yesteryear and the link between the country and its desert.
