Description
This stamp highlights the Skifa Kahla of Mahdia, an emblematic monument of Tunisian medieval defensive architecture and testimony to the strategic role of the city in Islamic and Mediterranean history. The illustration underlines the power and sobriety of this fortified gate, symbol of protection, control and sovereignty, which marked the entrance to the city founded as a Fatimid capital. Through this choice, the stamp recalls the importance of Mahdia as a political, military and maritime center, while including military architecture in the national heritage. It highlights a Tunisia heir to great urban civilizations, aware of the historical value of its monuments and their role in the construction of the territorial and historical identity of the country.
