Description
Despite its misleading name (it actually originates from the Mediterranean basin and not Peru), Scilla peruviana is a spectacular bulbous plant. The stamp illustrates its cluster of flowers in the shape of a pyramid or umbel, of an intense purplish blue, contrasting with its large green leaves. It is an emblematic plant of cool soils and semi-shaded areas of the north of the country. By giving it the value of 1 dinar, the Tunisian post office underlines the majesty of this species.
